What to expect from GenerateBlocks Pro

It’s no secret that there will be a premium or pro version of GenerateBlocks released at some point in the near future. In fact, one of the developers has talked about this pretty openly on Twitter. We don’t yet have a release date but in his tweets, he revealed that it will be launching soon. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to come.

Just to let you know, I do not have any insider knowledge and I haven’t been able to test any of the new features. This is purely a list of what to expect compiled from one man’s tweets for those interested.

GenerateBlocks Patterns

In WordPress 5.5 Patterns were introduced. Patterns are basically templates for page layouts. I mentioned in my article on this update that plugins and themes will be able to add patterns. And it appears that GenerateBlocks will make full use of this feature.

We also know that there will be several testimonial blocks available in GenerateBlocks Pro. These can of course be built manually using the basic GenerateBlocks but having a few templates available should give you a great jumping-off point.

GenerateBlocks effects

The most significant change in GenerateBlocks Pro will be, in my opinion, the effects. In GenerateBlocks Pro you can make any container, row, or what have you a link with hover effects. The effects you can choose from are Opacity, Transition, Box Shadow, Text Shadow, and Transforms. And the effects can be combined and customized to the utmost degree. There will be separate settings for normal and hover states.

And according to the original tweet these effects can be used to create animated buttons, portfolio grids, and photography galleries. It is the latter two possibilities I am really interested in.

Rest assured, as soon as GenerateBlocks Pro drops, I will be purchasing it. And I’ll put it through its paces and decide whether it can replace my galleries on my photography website.
